Latrobe, Pa., native Irene Kelley discovered her flair for songwriting as a teenager and soon found her way to Nashville, Tenn., where her songs were quickly noticed and recorded by Carl Jackson, Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White. While recording an album for MCA and independently releasing two more records while touring world wide, Irene raised two daughters and scored cuts with Alan Jackson, Trisha Yearwood, Loretta Lynn, Pat Green, Brother Phelps, Rhonda Vincent, Claire Lynch, the Whites, the Osborne Brothers and others. Her Bluegrass album Pennsylvania Coal, produced by multi-Grammy award winner Mark Fain, was released to critical acclaim in 2013. Her new album These Hills was released on Mountain Fever Records June 18, 2016, and doing very well on the airplay charts, including a #1 Bluegrass single with the song “Carolina Wind”. “She sings with immense hillbilly heart and writes like a champion.” –Robert K.
