Laurie Lewis
A stirring vocalist, gifted songwriter, champion fiddler and topnotch bandleader, Laurie Lewis has won a Grammy for her contributions to True Life Blues: The Songs of Bill Monroe, has twice been voted Female Vocalist of the Year and her rendition of “Who Will Watch The Home Place?” won Song of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Laurie’s songs have been recorded by Kathy Mattea (Love Chooses You, The Wood Thrush’s Song, The Maple’s Lament) and Patsy Montana (The Cowgirl’s Song), among others. With over 20 solo, duo and band albums to her credit, Laurie has just released The Hazel and Alice Sessions with her band, The Right Hands. The critically-acclaimed album delves into the rich and varied repertoire of women bluegrass pioneers Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerrard.
