Red Wine

Booth 515 (Wed-Sat)
Red Wine is one of the most important European bands, active since 1978, with a style that compasses traditional and contemporary Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, and Swing.
Starting 1984 Red Wine has played all over Europe, performing at major international festivals and playing concerts in Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Wales, Holland, Slovenia, The Czech Republic, and Austria, sharing the stage with the most important bands and acts from the USA and Europe, and gaining a strong following everywhere.
Red Wine has toured the USA regularly, starting in 1995, and has played successfully at festivals like the Bean Blossom Uncle Pen’s Memorial Day Bluegrass Festival (IN), the Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival (OK), the Walnut Valley Festival Winfield (KS), the Bluegrass & Chili Festival (OK), the Strawberry Bluegrass Festival (CA), the Poppy Mountain Bluegrass Festival (KY), the Mohican Bluegrass Festival (OH), the Bluegrass & Chowder Festival (IL), the Wind Gap Bluegrass Festival (PA), the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival (CA), the ROMP Fest (KY), Wintergrass (WA), the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival (NJ), the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival (NY), the Mountain Song Festival (NC), and at the 1995, 2001, 2008, 2010 and 2013 editions of the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) “World of Bluegrass” (Owensboro and Louisville, KY, Nashville, TN, and Raleigh, NC), playing exciting showcases and Fan Fest / Bluegrass Ramble shows. These US tours also included playing “historical” venues like The Station Inn (TN), The Freight And Salvage (CA), The Down Home (TN), Everett’s Barn (GA), The Mockingbird (VA), The Palms (CA), and various TV and radio shows like Channel 5 (Memphis, TN), Terry Herd’s Bluegrass Radio Network (Nashville, TN), Katy Daley’s Radio Show, and Michael Johnathon’s Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour.
Following the huge success of the 30th anniversary celebration concert in Genova in 2008, Red Wine started a new yearly adventure in 2009, the Red Wine Bluegrass Party, with international guests like Tim O’Brien, Laurie Lewis & Tom Rozum, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Peter Rowan, and The Kruger Brothers. In the past 2 years the Party has featured a refreshing opening towards other musical genres (Celtic, Dixieland, Old Time Music), with the valuable help of incredible musicians from Italy and Europe.
